THE SIGNIFICANCE OF SPIRITUAL GROUPING
I do not know about you, but as for me, my spiritual journey would be a slow to barely moving crawl if it were not for me meeting regularly with God fearing men I respect and admire.
Spiritual grouping is me meeting with other like-minded men ONCE A WEEK for about an hour. We laugh, joke, and most importantly hold each other accountable to our spiritual commitments. Every group meeting there is something said that always resonates and encourages me to get better spiritually.
At this week’s meeting many of us had not made our hour of adoration for the week. Someone in the group put out the challenge to us that the week was not over, and we still had three days to visit with Him. We were to respond in the group text the word adoration when we fulfilled this commitment.
Saturday at 1:00 in the afternoon I went before work. Now I can tell you I love the adoration chapel and I understand its significance in my life, but I would not have gone had it not been for this challenge. What a blessing it was for me to be there. As usual the hour flew by and what an escape to peace I would have missed out on had it not been for my brothers challenging me.
I think the need for Spiritual Grouping is what God showed us in Mark 2:1-5. The men were spiritual brothers. They knew each other’s strengths and weaknesses. Their faith knew the healing power of Jesus so they worked together and lifted their hurting brother onto the roof and struggled to lower him to the Saving Grace of Jesus.
Another example I think God shows us the importance of Grouping is in the way Jesus in his divinity did not need any disciples to accomplish anything. However, HE showed us that our humanity is weak and chose 12 Spiritual Brothers to be in constant prayer and formation with as a Spiritual Group.
This is the power of Spiritual Grouping. I am thankful for the men in my group. They lift me when I need lifting and keep me in check when I get in my own way.
If you are not part of a small group meeting regularly, I encourage you to find them and do it. They are out there and they need you and guess what- you need them.
God Bless, Pat Bordes
